The Souls of My Feet

When life comes after me like june bugs on my lit up porch
and my bunions have blisters and my brain feels scorched
there is one thing that sooths my soul
it is a warm bath
with painted toes.

  4. My sentiments, exactly. I adore the notion of life coming at you like June bugs. Wonderful bit of writing, here, Carrie.

  5. Wow! Did you ever strike a chord in me ~ had both feet operated on years ago for bunion repair. I could spend weeks talking about the various blisters, what they were filled with, the pins in my feet for three weeks post surgery .... and my feet today - over 20 years later!

  12. Love your poem and the Emily Dickinson quote, used it not long ago in an essay about hope. We too often use our feet like tools and then pay for it later. But the warm bath you speak of is a wonderful solution.

  26. Loved your magpie! You kept it light and easy. Mine is terribly dark. That's the beauty of these photo prompts. Limitless possibilities. I look forward to reading more of your work.
